🌄 Discover Clare Balding’s Top Welsh Walks! 🚶♀️✨

After walking a whopping 3,400 miles across the UK, Clare Balding has shared her favourite walks, and guess what? Two fabulous Welsh trails made the list!
First up, the Skirrid Trail in Abergavenny claims fifth place. This beloved trail is a four-mile circular route starting near Llanddewi Skirrid. Clare cherishes this walk deeply, dedicating it to her dear friend Sue and in memory of Sue’s husband, Eddie Butler, a brilliant rugby commentator.

Next, we have the enchanting Four Waterfalls Walk in the Brecon Beacons. At four-and-a-half miles, it promises a delightful journey through lush woodland and, of course, four stunning waterfalls. Clare recalls a romantic tale of a couple who met and got engaged on this very path!
Clare’s ‘Ramblings’ series on BBC Radio 4 shares the joys of walking and its positive impact. She once thought the show might last a few series, but here we are, 25 years and over 500 episodes later!
Clare beautifully sums up the magic of walking: “It’s a fantastic way to explore, without any pain or suffering — just pure enjoyment and connection to the surroundings.”
So, if you’re looking to step into some adventure and romance, these Welsh trails are waiting for you. Grab your boots and get exploring! 🥾💚
