🚨 Heartbreaking Incident on A120 🚨

In a shocking case of reckless driving, a grandmother lost her life when a truck veered off course in Standon Hill, Herts. The culprit, 49-year-old Daniel Barry Coburn from Chelmsford, was engaging in inappropriate activities on his phone while behind the wheel of a Ford Transit. To make matters worse, he was under the influence of alcohol, cocaine, and MDMA.

On August 5, 2023, the unsuspecting red Kia Picanto driven by 81-year-old Bethan Fraser-Andrews was tragically hit. Bethan, a lively and active grandmother on her way to a family celebration, died at the scene. Her family remembers her fondly as someone who embraced life, with a passion for tennis, painting, bird spotting, and singing in choirs.
Coburn’s dangerous actions have forever altered the lives of Bethan’s family, leaving them heartbroken. He pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and received a nine-year and seven-month prison sentence, along with a 13-year and four-month driving ban at St Albans Crown Court.
Judge Sheridan labelled Coburn’s driving as one of the worst cases he’d seen. Detective Constable Dale Morris stated, “Coburn’s selfish and dangerous actions have torn a mother and grandmother away from her family.”
Bethan’s children shared their grief, with Elisabeth saying, “We are still coming to terms with the fact that she is gone,” and James adding, “Mum was devoted to her family… Her lively spirit and loving nature will be sorely missed.”
Let this serve as a poignant reminder to cherish and prioritise safety on the roads. đź’” #StaySafe #RoadSafety #JusticeForBethan
