A tragic accident on the A55 in north Wales has resulted in the loss of a woman in her 40s and left three others with serious injuries. The incident involved a collision between a lorry and a car on the westbound carriageway at J17 in Conwy Morfa around midday. Emergency services were quick to respond, with three air ambulances and teams from the Welsh Ambulance Service and North Wales Fire and Rescue present at the scene.

The affected car was carrying four passengers. Sadly, the woman was pronounced dead on the scene. Two of the injured were urgently airlifted to hospitals in Stoke and Aintree, while another was taken to Aintree by ambulance.
The driver of the lorry is currently assisting police with their inquiries. As investigations continue, a section of the road had been completely shut for several hours before partially reopening in both directions at 5:30 PM.
