Tragedy struck Glenboi in the early hours of New Year’s Eve as a devastating house fire engulfed a home, leaving one person dead. Emergency services rushed to the scene near Mountain Ash after receiving reports just before 2am. Despite the brave efforts of firefighters and police, a life was lost in the blaze.

The fire broke out on Aberdare Road, prompting a swift response to control the raging flames. Roads were closed and nearby residents were safely evacuated as the fire service tackled what was described as a “well-developed” fire. The home has suffered significant damage, with parts partially collapsed.

Authorities have set up a cordon and a joint investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire, involving South Wales Police, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, and Rhondda Cynon Taf Council. Emergency services remain on the scene, dedicating resources to ensuring safety and initiating their enquiries.
Firefighters continue their hard work amidst the aftermath, using specialist resources and equipment to manage the situation. The community is urged to stay clear of the area as investigations are expected to keep the road closed for some time.
