πΏ Exciting news for eco-warriors and nature lovers in Pembrokeshire! A new plan for a natural burial site at Tabernacle Cemetery in Fishguard has got the green light, after initially being turned down. π±β¨

What’s unique about this burial site? It’s all about being environmentally friendly! Instead of traditional coffins and headstones, bodies are laid to rest directly into the earth, allowing them to βrecycleβ naturally. Talk about going back to your roots! π

The trustees of Tabernacle Chapel first faced rejection in April when they applied to expand their existing cemetery onto agricultural land. But after addressing concerns around potential water pollution and historic site impacts with comprehensive surveys, the plan has now been approved by Pembrokeshire County Council. π
Fishguard and Goodwick Town Council gave their thumbs up too, on condition of conducting an archaeological survey to preserve the nearby historic Castell Mwrtach. π°
With Natural Resources Wales now satisfied about environmental safety and no objections from heritage advisors, this innovative approach to burials is all set to become a reality.
Could this be a new chapter in how we think about our final resting place? Let us know your thoughts! π¬β¬οΈ
