🌞 Heads up on Vitamin D! 🌞 As the chilly months roll in, many of us are reaching for vitamin D supplements to keep our bones, muscles, and teeth in top shape. Between October and March, it’s common for folks in the UK to add a daily dose to their routine. However, experts are advising caution when pairing vitamin D with other supplements like those trendy “immune” gummies or multivitamins.

Why the warning? Too much vitamin D can lead to a condition called hypercalcaemia, which means excessive calcium in your body—potentially weakening bones and harming kidneys and the heart. Yikes!

The NHS recommends that from age 1 and up, everyone should aim for 10 micrograms (or 400 IU) of Vitamin D a day. Stick to that, and you’re golden! Adults should be wary of exceeding 100 micrograms (4,000 IU) daily as it could be harmful, including for pregnant and breastfeeding women and teens.

And don’t forget, Vitamin D isn’t just in pills! You can find it in tasty foods like egg yolks, red meat, and oily fish such as salmon and mackerel.
Famous dermatologist Dr Charles MD even mentions its perks for skin health, suggesting it may help with acne and dark spots.
