Big changes are coming for fans of the Commonwealth Games! For the first time in over seven decades, the BBC won’t be broadcasting this iconic event. Instead, TNT Sports has outbid them, taking the reins for the Glasgow 2026 Games. Known for their Champions League coverage, TNT Sports is stepping into the world of athletics with a promise to bring unmatched energy and exciting storytelling.

Scott Young from Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe said they’re committed to delivering top-quality, immersive coverage that will be available on their streaming platforms. Fans can look forward to a comprehensive look at every sport and athlete, celebrating the rich history of the Games while sharing fresh stories from the competitors.

Katie Sadleir, Chief Executive of Commonwealth Sport, is thrilled, calling it a “landmark moment” as they reimagine the Games’ experience for both athletes and fans. Glasgow 2026 Chief Executive Phil Batty echoed this excitement, highlighting the innovative partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery as a bold step towards engaging new and growing audiences.

Despite the BBC’s long-time coverage since 1954, they acknowledged that they couldn’t match TNT’s financial offer. Earlier, the BBC also lost the rights to the famous boat race, which will now air on Channel 4 from 2026.
Stay tuned for Glasgow 2026, where the new broadcast era for the Commonwealth Games promises to be vibrant and groundbreaking!
