Severe flood warnings, which pose a significant risk to life, are currently in effect for parts of the River Monnow and River Wye. These areas include Watery Lane, Over Monnow, Forge Road in Osbaston, and Skenfrith. 📍
Flood warnings also affect the River Ritec at Tenby, and several areas along the River Severn, including Pool Quay and Buttington, and the River Vyrnwy at Llanymynech.
Natural Resources Wales warns that rivers may still rise due to the heavy rainfall, and these warnings could stick around for a while. Safety first, folks! 🚨 Steer clear of swollen riverbanks, never walk or drive through floodwater, and if you must journey, make sure to check your routes in advance.
An official major incident was declared by South Wales Fire and Rescue early Saturday, and work is ongoing to manage the disaster’s impact. Monmouthshire Council is pulling all-nighters to combat the flooding aftermath, promising street sweepers and jet washers in Abergavenny, Monmouth, and Skenfrith to tackle the cleanup. 🧹
