Picture this: a brave family set out to welcome the new year with an adventurous hike in the stunning Carneddau mountains. But things took a frosty turn as they found themselves stuck on the icy slopes of Pen Y Ole Wen!
After a beautiful day exploring the Eryri peaks, the group hit a tricky rock section and couldn’t find their way down. But don’t fret—our heroes from the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Team were quick on the scene to save the day!
Five rescuers trekked up the mountain armed with warm clothing, torches, and microspikes to combat the treacherous conditions. Thanks to their efforts, the family was safely back on stable ground just in time to ring in the New Year! 🎆🥳
This remarkable rescue marked the 60th anniversary of the rescue team, capping off their busiest year ever with 186 callouts! Huge thanks to these incredible volunteers for their dedication and hard work. 👏
