A heartbreaking end to the Royal Parks Half Marathon as 25-year-old Kory Russell from Sully tragically passed away after collapsing just 100 metres from the finish line. Participating with 16,000 others, Kory suffered a cardiac arrest and, despite receiving immediate assistance, sadly couldn’t be revived.

Kory, a promising young professional working in finance in London, is remembered fondly by all who knew him. His former swim club in Cardiff called him a “remarkable young man” who always brought a warm smile and positive spirit to every session. The club paid tribute, saying he left a lasting impact and will always be remembered as a proud “Cardiff Dragon.”

His employer, State Street, expressed their deep sorrow, describing Kory as a “highly valued and respected” team member. The company extended heartfelt sympathies to his family and friends during this difficult time.

In a statement filled with sadness, the organisers of the Royal Parks Half Marathon also sent condolences to Kory’s loved ones, respecting the family’s request for privacy.
Kory’s legacy and the joy he brought to those around him will not be forgotten. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
