We’re heartbroken by the sudden passing of former Wales Women’s head coach Warren Abrahams, who left us all too soon at 43. Warren, who was coaching the Belgium national women’s sevens team, passed away suddenly during a tournament in Nairobi, Kenya. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this devastating time.
Warren was a true rugby stalwart, hailing from the Western Cape in South Africa. He made significant strides in his playing days with Durbanville‑Bellville and Stellenbosch University before becoming a renowned coach. His coaching career was marked by inspiring stints with Wales Women, USA sevens, the England Sevens men’s team, and the Harlequins academy, where he left a lasting legacy.
Harlequins shared touching tributes, acknowledging the profound impact Warren had on the club, and how his passion and leadership resonated throughout the rugby world.
His time with Wales Women may have been brief, but his influence continued to ripple through the sport. Despite the challenges faced during the pandemic, Warren remained committed to fostering talent and leadership on and off the pitch.
