🎉 Meet Owen Filer – Cwmbran’s treasured 106-year-old delighting the aisles of Asda! 🎉
Known as Wales’ oldest man, Owen has been gracing the same supermarket almost every single day for 24 years! This week, the staff decided to sprinkle some festive cheer by gifting Owen a trolley full of his usual items, topped with seasonal treats like biscuits, yule log, and mince pies. 🛒🍪
Owen’s not just a shopper; he’s a cherished member of the Asda family. “Everyone’s friendly, they know me by name,” he shares. With a knack for chatting and joking around, his visits are a daily highlight for the entire team.
A veteran of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers and Military Police during WWII, Owen attributes his longevity to “never really growing up” and enjoying a wee dram of Scotch whisky before bed. 🥃
Father to four, grandfather to 10, and great-grandfather to 15 (with the youngest just three months old!), Owen is a true gem. The Asda team, including customer manager Cali Beale, is honoured to have this local celebrity brighten their store. “He’s fantastic for his age and it’s an absolute pleasure to have him,” she says.
Owen’s loyalty to Asda is unwavering. “If I live to 119, I won’t go anywhere else,” he declares. Owen, you’re an inspiration and a joy to all who meet you! 💚
Let’s raise a glass to Owen and his incredible journey! 🥂✨#LocalHero #AgeIsJustANumber #AsdaLove
