After being banished from Wigan in 2022, the legendary 20-foot gold Roman Gladiator statue has made a grand return to Bulldog Forge in Ince, Greater Manchester. The iconic statue, affectionately known as ‘Golden Balls’, was removed due to a flurry of complaints about its, shall we say, bold appearance. But thanks to a whirlwind of local support, he’s shining bright once more just in time for some festive cheer!

Grant Adamson, the proud owner of the vintage shop where our golden friend stands tall, decided enough was enough. He heard the community’s voices loud and clear—everyone was asking, “When is Golden Balls making a comeback?” Well, he’s back, just in time for Christmas, and the locals couldn’t be happier.

Though the council’s given only temporary permission, Grant hopes to keep him in place longer. He understands the mix of opinions but says, “A lot of people love him, and he’s great for the shop and the community.”

Don’t miss your chance to see ‘Golden Balls’ in all his glory during the upcoming open day at CJS Heritage Engineering at Grant’s Bulldog Forge on Saturday, November 29, from 11am to 4pm. Who knows how long he’ll be around?

Welcome back, Golden Balls! You’ve been missed. 🏆✨
