Phil Tufnell, the former England cricketer and TV favourite, has spilt the beans about his adventures in the jungle on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Twice he’s tackled the trials and tribulations of camp life, but one thing particularly got under his skin the second time around.

Back when he first swapped cricket whites for jungle gear in 2003, Tufnell walked away as King of the Jungle. And yes, he had some culinary help from chef Antony Worrall Thompson, making the notorious rice and beans a little more palatable.

Fast forward to 2023, and the All Stars edition of the show whisked him away to South Africa, where he faced off against fellow celeb veterans. Surrounded by the majestic wildlife of Kruger National Park, you’d think Tufnell would have been soaring as high as the eagles above. But the reality of jungle grub hit hard!

Chatting about his second stint, Tufnell confessed that the lacklustre diet was a real bugbear. “I forgot how awful the rice and beans were,” he admitted, longing for the days when a dose of culinary flair transformed camp meals into something special. Without a pro chef like Antony, meals became a bit of a shambles, though Myleene’s cooking did save the day somewhat.
So, if you’re ever thinking of taking on the jungle, here’s a hot tip: make sure you’ve got a chef on hand to spice things up! Have you ever watched I’m A Celeb and wondered how you’d handle the jungle cuisine? 🍚🫘🐒
