Milford Haven shopkeeper turns hero! 💪 Two masked women armed with a large knife stormed into Pil Corner Stores demanding money. But they met their match in the brave shopkeeper who grabbed the nearest weapon – a plastic milk crate! Swinging it as his shield, he fought off the assailants, forcing them to flee empty-handed. They ditched the knife in a hedge, hoping to escape scot-free.
Police quickly tracked down Bethan John and Jessie Thompson, arresting them the day after their failed robbery attempt. In court, it was revealed the duo had planned to turn themselves in, but only after enjoying their weekend.
Judge Paul Thomas KC made it clear that courts stand firm in protecting shop workers, sentencing Thompson to 40 months in prison and John to 36 months. Both will serve part of their sentences in custody before being released on licence.
This dramatic incident revealed the challenges faced by local shopkeepers in keeping their businesses safe. A statement from the courageous shopkeeper shared how the incident sparked fear and anxiety whenever customers enter.
Detective Constable Dean Chilcott emphasised the importance of protecting these vital community hubs, hoping this sentencing sends a strong message. 🛡️ Stay safe out there and let’s stand with our local heroes who keep our communities running, even in the face of danger. 🙌 #CommunityHeroes #StaySafe #ShopkeeperHero
