🌟 Heartfelt Tribute to a Young Hero 🌟

It’s been a decade since Wales led the UK in changing organ donation laws, and today marks a poignant milestone for the Bates family from Cardiff. Ten years ago, Anna-Louise made an incredible decision amidst unimaginable grief—she donated her beloved son Fraser’s organs. Fraser, just seven, tragically lost his life alongside his father, Stuart, after a road accident. Yet, through his organ donations, Fraser gave the ultimate gift—a second chance at life to four people. 💖

To honour his legacy, Anna-Louise founded a charity, ‘Believe’, and on the cusp of this significant legal anniversary, they opened a beautiful Organ Donation Garden at Cardiff’s Northern Cemetery. This serene space is designed for reflection, offering comfort and gratitude to all touched by organ donation.

The garden features handprints from Welsh celebrities like Bear Grylls and Katherine Jenkins, a memorial pond, fruit trees, and a special trail paying tribute to donors and recipients alike. Visitors can purchase memorial stones, placing a ‘pebble’ with a loved one’s name at the garden’s heart.
Anna-Louise, who recently faced another personal loss, opened her heart at the event, surrounded by those whose lives Fraser impacted. One special guest was Roman, who received Fraser’s heart. ❤️
Wales’ opt-out organ donation system, implemented on December 1, 2015, has led to over 2,000 donations! This transformative step helped raise consent rates, although deeper public engagement is still needed. As NHS Blood and Transplant highlights, registering as a donor is vital—your decision could save lives!
Let’s celebrate Fraser’s incredible legacy and continue spreading the message of organ donation. Register your decision—just a two-minute task that could make a world of difference. 🌱✨
