🚨 Major Incident at Aberavon Beach 🚨

A dramatic rescue mission unfolded last night at Aberavon Beach after reports of a person in distress in the water. Emergency services, including Coastguard teams from Port Talbot and Porthcawl, South Wales Police, and the Welsh Ambulance Service, rushed to the scene at roughly 9.45pm.

Upon arrival, police had already managed to secure the casualty, who had sustained serious injuries, onto the north pier. Coastguard officers sprang into action, providing urgent medical care on-site.
The situation intensified as a rescue helicopter was dispatched to the scene. A skilled winch paramedic administered further treatment, and the injured person was ultimately airlifted off the pier.
Following this, a combined effort by the Coastguard, police, and ambulance personnel ensured the casualty was safely transferred from the beach to a waiting ambulance, which promptly transported them to hospital.
Operations wrapped up around 12.45am after ensuring the safety of all. Kudos to the emergency services for their swift and coordinated response. A heart-stopping night with a collective sigh of relief for those involved.
Stay safe and vigilant, everyone! 💙
