💔 Shockwaves hit the boxing world as Anthony Joshua emerges from a fatal car crash in Nigeria with minor injuries. The tragic accident occurred on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, claiming two lives and leaving AJ hospitalised but stable. 🚗💥
Relatives were eagerly awaiting Joshua’s arrival for New Year celebrations, only to be met with devastating news. The boxer was en route to his family home when the collision occurred, driving in a convoy including a security vehicle.
Early reports suggest excessive speed and an overtaking manoeuvre led the vehicle to crash into a stationary lorry. Regional road safety authorities have confirmed that five men were involved: two tragically lost their lives, while two others escaped unscathed. 🛣️
Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, stated AJ’s condition is stable. Yet, the incident has left the family deeply saddened and surprised.
Joshua had been in high spirits after his recent victory over Jake Paul in Miami, stepping in as a replacement and breaking Paul’s jaw in the process. December had seen AJ knocking out Paul in the sixth round, leaving fans anticipating what 2026 holds.
Our thoughts are with the families affected by this horrifying incident. Let’s hope for AJ’s speedy recovery and extend prayers to the departed. 🙏
Stay tuned for more updates as the investigation unfolds. 💬
