Meet Saad Abdullah, the Cardiff lad defying the odds and proving that dreams do come true! 🙌🥊 Once an “undersized, insecure” schoolboy who didn’t speak until he was 11, Saad is now a professional flyweight boxer chasing global glory.

Growing up, Saad was an easy target — small, shy, and struggling with a speech impediment. But his life took a pivotal turn when his dad took him to a boxing show. “I didn’t fully understand what was happening in that ring — but I knew I was witnessing something special.”
From that moment, Saad embraced boxing with unwavering dedication. He faced laughter and doubt when he first stepped into a gym at 11. Despite being a skinny kid with no boxing skills, he trained relentlessly, waking up at 5 am to train and hitting the gym after school.

School was tough, and Saad eventually left sixth form to put everything into boxing. “People laughed. Teachers and even some friends said I’d never make it,” he recalls. Yet, with grit and determination, Saad proved them wrong.

Fast-forward to now, Saad has clinched national and British Championship titles and is a multiple gold medallist for Wales. At 19, he turned professional and has already won his first three fights in the boxing hotspot of Dubai.
Inspired by his dad and boxing legend Prince Naseem Hamed, Saad is committed to reaching the pinnacle of success as a world champion. His journey is also about giving back through the Prosperity Boxing gym he co-owns in Cardiff. “Our gym is more than a place to train; it’s a space for kids who feel overlooked or insecure to find their confidence,” he shares.
Saad’s speech impediment may have been a challenge, but through boxing, he found his voice. “I want to be an example for others chasing a dream and tell them not to give up,” Saad says.
As he gears up for his next fight in Dubai, Saad is home in Cardiff, enjoying time with his family and inspiring future champs. Follow Saad’s journey and witness a true story of perseverance and triumph! 🌟🏆
