Just had a trip down memory lane with snooker icon John Virgo! 🤔 Remember the 90s hit show “Big Break”? John teamed up with comedian Jim Davidson for the snooker-themed TV quiz that hooked nearly 14 million of us!
Now 79, Virgo recalls not being sure the show would take off. But surprise, surprise—it became more popular than “A Question of Sport”! 🌟 The snooker craze was real, folks!
What’s more? The unlikely pairing of a “crafty Conservative comedian” and a “dour northern socialist” turned into a genuine friendship. Sometimes opposites truly attract, right?
Fast forward to today, there’s chatter about Davidson being “cancelled” by the BBC. He claims they handed him £1 million to “go away.” While John understands the TV absence—citing Jim’s controversial nature as a factor—he also feels it’s a loss of comic genius and talent. 🙌
Despite their differences and the whirlwind of media chaos, Virgo treasures the warmth and camaraderie they shared. “He’s a funny and generous chap,” John adds, lamenting the media fallout, “It’s a waste of talent.”
Ah, the good old days! Reminisce with me! 🎱📺 #BigBreak #SnookerNostalgia #JohnVirgo #JimDavidson #TVLegends
