Chemmy Alcott, the face we all know from the BBC’s Winter Olympics coverage, continues to make headlines! The former Team GB skiing star, who shone on the slopes as a seven-time national champion, has wowed us from the broadcasting booth this Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina. But there’s more to Chemmy than skiing brilliance!

Born in Hove, East Sussex, Chemmy began her skiing career nearly as soon as she could walk, proving her talent with medals at the European Youth Winter Olympic Festival in 1999. She found herself on the global stage, competing in four Winter Olympics from 2002 to 2014. However, the road wasn’t without bumps.

Chemmy’s courage on the mountain equalled her determination to battle injury. Over her career, she faced several leg breaks and eventually retired when doctors warned another fall could risk amputation. Her response? “I love ski racing, but I love this life more.”
Retirement didn’t slow Chemmy down. She’s channelled her passion into broadcasting, becoming a staple on our screens and inspiring many. But not without a few TV hiccups, like getting into hot water over her choice of knitwear!
Chemmy’s personal life is just as action-packed. Married to fellow skiing champion Dougie Crawford since 2014, she’s also a proud mum to their son, Lochlan. Together, they make quite the dynamic duo.
What’s next for Chemmy? Only time will tell, but we’re excited to find out! Ready to watch even more Winter Olympics action? Tune in via discovery+ and don’t miss any of the excitement from Milan-Cortina 2026! ❄️⛷️
