🌼 Hay Fever Alert, UK! 🌼

As we embrace the first whiffs of spring, it’s time to prep for hay fever season. Experts are advising UK households to keep windows and doors shut between 10am and 3pm to dodge the pollen invasion. Why, you ask? It’s during these hours that pollen count hits the roof! 🤧

Traditionally, tree pollen kicks off from March to May, with grass pollen following from mid-May to July, and finally, weed pollen from July all the way into September. But thanks to our warming climate, these sneaky allergens could start acting up as early as January or February! 🌿

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) warns us of the earlier and extended release of pollen – a joy for plants but not so much for allergy sufferers. Keeping your living spaces closed up during peak hours can help stop pollen from creeping in and clinging to your home’s cosy corners.
So, while fresh air is tempting, especially as the weather gets warmer, be strategic about when you let it in. Keep those windows closed during high pollen times and on breezy days. Remember, it’s especially key for bedrooms, where you want your sleep to be sneeze-free. 🛏️
And a little pointer: Folks in the north generally get a later, shorter hay fever season compared to those in the south. Rural areas might see more pollen than urban spaces, while coastal spots enjoy slightly lower counts.
