Ever wondered what it’s like to wake up looking like you’ve stepped out of a sci-fi film? Just ask Tommy Lynch! The 42-year-old from Castle Gresley, Derbyshire had quite the scare when he woke up as blue as a Smurf.

After sleeping in brand new navy blue bed sheets for two nights, Tommy’s skin turned entirely blue. At first glance, his friend, a carer, thought Tommy might have a serious health issue and rushed him to the hospital. Upon arrival, hospital staff were baffled, and Tommy quickly became the centre of attention in the A&E as medical professionals gathered around.

The mystery was soon solved: a simple alcohol wipe revealed that the dye from the unwashed bedsheets was the culprit. Tommy was relieved but undoubtedly embarrassed. “I never knew you had to wash your sheets before you slept on them,” he admitted sheepishly, giving everyone a good chuckle.

Reflecting on the unusual incident, Tommy shared, “They don’t usually have funny stories in A&E, so in a way, I’m glad I could lighten their day – quite literally! I left more red than blue that day.”
So, lesson learned, folks: always wash your new sheets! Unless, of course, you’re looking to fast-track your way through A&E and experience a real-life blue adventure.
