🚧 Big changes are on the horizon for a stretch of the A48 in West Wales that’s been infamous for accidents! 🚦

The road between Carmarthen and Cross Hands will soon undergo major improvements to tackle its reputation as an accident hotspot. With almost 900 crashes in a decade and a recent increase in collisions, it’s time for a big revamp!

What’s in the works? The Welsh Government has unveiled plans that include closing central reservation gaps, shutting six laybys, and redesigning junctions. A brand-new roundabout could also be in the cards for Nantycaws to address safety concerns. 🛣️
Why all the fuss? Well, this section of the A48 is a key link between the M4 and West Wales. With unsuitable junction layouts and poor public transport infrastructure, the changes aim to make the road safer and more efficient.
Works are expected to kick off this autumn/winter and wrap up by early 2027. Although changes at Nantycaws aren’t as imminent, preparations are underway with ecological surveys and consultations in the pipeline.
The Welsh Government assures that while there might be some lane closures and minor disruptions during construction, these efforts are essential to create a safer, resilient route for everyone — whether you’re driving, cycling, or walking. 🚴♂️
