Local parents are rallying against the closure, emphasising the safe environment and vibrant community spirit the current school offers. David Whittaker, a former pupil and now parent, stressed, “Families deserve clear answers, not silence and confusion.”
Mum Leah Connolly added, “My youngest, who has additional needs, thrives here. There’s no bullying, and she is achieving beyond what she thought she could. In Saltney Ferry, we support each other because, frankly, we have to. We’re a forgotten community.”
Residents are also concerned about the proposed walking route being unsafe for young pupils. π¬ Cllr Richard Lloyd agrees, stating, “I’ve lived here all my life, and that route isn’t safe.”
The school functions as a vital community hub, even featuring a farm to support children’s learning. Yet, there’s anxiety over Flintshire Council’s uncertain next move. Many hope the proposals will be scrapped for good, but only time will tell. β³
It’s clear: This isn’t just a fight for a school; it’s about preserving a lifeline for families in Saltney Ferry. Letβs hope the voices of parents and children will be heard loud and clear! πͺπ
