Meet Bethany Fitt from Penarth, a truly inspiring force! Despite battling endometriosis, she’s made a name for herself in the world of weightlifting, even securing a second-place title in the U73kg category at Wales’ Strongest Woman competition.

Bethany’s journey began with pain at just 12 years old. Doctors dismissed her symptoms as mere teenage hormonal changes, but she knew something was wrong. After years of pushing for answers, she was finally diagnosed with endometriosis in 2024. This condition affects 1 in 10 women in Wales, and March is dedicated to raising awareness for it.

Despite her struggles, Bethany hasn’t let her condition define her. She got into weightlifting during the COVID lockdowns and has been hooked ever since. Competing is challenging, especially with a chronic condition, but for Bethany, the sport is not only a physical outlet but a mental health booster. She describes the strong community spirit among fellow athletes as incredibly supportive.
Bethany used the competition as an opportunity to shine a light on endometriosis, even raising £711—more than double her initial fundraising goal—for Endometriosis UK. Sporting her Endo bow leggings, she’s passionate about inspiring others, showing that even with chronic health challenges, you can still dream big and lift heavy things.
Bethany’s next goal? Competing in Cardiff’s Strongest later this year and setting sights on next year’s Wales Strongest Woman. Her story reminds us to persist in advocating for our health and to never let anything hold us back from our dreams. Way to go, Bethany! 🌟💪
