⚽️ Former footballer Joey Barton has been denied bail after an alleged assault on a former football manager in North Wales. The ex-Manchester City and Newcastle United player has been in custody since March 10 over the incident. Barton, aged 43 from Widnes, is accused of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent on Kevin Lynch near Huyton. Lynch, who has a history with clubs like Colwyn Bay FC and City of Liverpool FC, was allegedly assaulted on March 8.

Barton didn’t appear at the recent Liverpool Crown Court hearing, but his bail plea was rejected, while his co-defendant, Gary O’Grady, received conditional bail. Barton is expected back in court on April 7. Besides his football legacy—the England cap, and time at QPR, Rangers, Burnley, and Marseille—he’s known for hosting the podcast “Common Sense With Joey Barton” which takes on various sports, societal, and political topics.
