Father Turns in Son to Authorities After Reaching Breaking Point

In a twist that sounds like something out of a TV drama, a father from Brynmawr found himself in the impossible position of having to call the police on his own son. Luke Cable, 25, was discovered in possession of a hefty white rock of cocaine, valued at over £6,000, all thanks to a concerned call from his dad.

It started when Luke came home looking worse for wear, leaving his father worried he was under the influence. Not one to sit idly by, his dad picked up the phone and contacted the police. Upon arrival at the scene, officers reportedly saw white powder on Luke’s nose, confirming dad’s worst suspicions.

Luke confessed he was meant to sell the drugs to clear a debt but had “sniffed” much of it himself. With a history that already included drug-related convictions, things certainly weren’t looking bright for him.

Fast forward to Wednesday at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court, and Luke pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply a class A drug. Despite his lawyer’s plea that Luke was fully aware of his grave mistake and wished to overcome his addiction, the judge handed down a three-year sentence.

Sentencing him, the recorder warned that another similar offence could see him facing an even harsher penalty. Hopefully, this turn of events is a much-needed wake-up call for Luke to turn his life around once he’s served his time.
