Because every time he tunes in to watch his beloved team play, they can’t seem to clinch a win. Poor Tommy sat through six nail-biting matches this season, watching Liverpool either draw or lose each time. Meanwhile, every game he misses, they end up celebrating a victory!
Tommy’s friends—especially the Everton fans among them—have started pleading with him to stay away on match days, convinced it’ll spell success for Liverpool if he doesn’t watch. It’s become the running gag in friend circles, with messages like “Tommy must be watching” flooding in whenever Liverpool concedes.
Tommy’s luck, or lack thereof, doesn’t stop at football. He’s got a knack for making his favourite local eateries shut their doors, too. His once-beloved spots like Yum’s, City Buffet, and others have all shuttered. Now, he jokingly fears dubbing any spot his “favourite,” lest he doom it.
Determined to help his team however he can, Tommy’s decided to sacrifice watching live games entirely. In a hilarious twist, he’s turning to his Xbox to catch the action virtually, with the hopes of reversing Liverpool’s fortunes. Xbox has even honoured Tommy’s commitment with an EA FC 26 package. Here’s hoping he has better luck on the console!
