🌱🗳️ Young Voices Shaping the Future: Green Party Takes the Lead! 🌿✨

With the Senedd election just around the corner on 7th May, we turned to the next generation to see where their votes are heading. Spoiler alert: there’s a clear lead! 🗳️

Mary Immaculate High School’s Year 11 politics students are not just ready to vote for the first time, they’re set on making a difference. These teens are passionate about issues close to home, like education and the environment, emphasising how laws often overlook the younger perspective. 🌍📚

“The environment’s really important, especially to those from lower income backgrounds. Big corporations might damage it without feeling the direct impacts like we do,” says Noel Cox, echoing a sentiment shared by many of his peers.
Facing a political system often seen as unkind and divisive, these students have found a party that resonates with their ideals—the Green Party. 💚 “The Green Party promotes kindness and inclusivity, something politics desperately needs more of,” shares one enthusiastic voter, Carlotta Melendez.
Their insights aren’t just lip service; they’ve engaged directly with the political process by hosting hustings and accessing information through modern channels like social media. “I think parties should share their manifestos on platforms like TikTok and Instagram to reach us where we are,” suggests Inira, striking a chord for digital democratisation. 📱
But despite their engagement, worries linger about turnout. “Without votes from us, parties might rethink allowing 16-year-olds to vote,” cautions Adam Mierzejewski. It’s a call to action for their peers: don’t let apathy win.
So, as these future leaders prepare to cast their ballots, they urge every young eligible voter to do the same. Carlotta passionately asserts, “It’s our future; we should have a say.” 🗣️✨
