Meet Tom Charter, a passionate artist from Ashford, Kent, who’s campaigning to showcase a truly unsung hero on the £20 banknote – the humble pigeon! 🕊️ During World War Two, these feathered messengers played a crucial role in delivering vital information, saving countless lives. Yet, today, they’re often dismissed as ‘vermin.’

Tom’s mission? To celebrate these urban wildlife warriors and remind Britain of their incredible contributions. While the current note features artist JMW Turner and King Charles III, Tom believes the pigeon deserves a spot too, symbolising the nation’s pride and resilience.
He’s launched a petition urging the Bank of England to recognise these birds’ service and beauty, amassing a whopping 6,700 signatures in just a week! “Pigeons are as much a part of our society as the King,” says Tom. “They’re national treasures deserving acknowledgement.”

Let’s give these misunderstood creatures the recognition they deserve and honour their legacy. 💷✈️
