Tragedy in Shrewsbury: The heart-wrenching story of Alexis De Naray, a talented chef remembered for his kindness and love, has gripped the nation. At just 45, Alexis’ life was cruelly taken by Adam Rowson, as his body was discovered in an abandoned garage. Alexis’ brother, Alexandros, describes him as “one of the most caring and loving people” he’s ever known, a sentiment echoed by their father, Constantine, who recalls his son as “funny, kind, and generous.”

Alexis crossed paths with Rowson at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital last June. They were strangers, but both struggling with alcoholism. Rowson, who was living rough, offered Alexis a place to stay, leading them to an abandoned building where tragedy would unfold. Days later, emergency services arrived to a devastating scene, with Rowson claiming they’d fought and he’d left Alexis behind.

The investigation revealed a darker side, as Rowson was caught using Alexis’ bank cards, purchasing alcohol, scratchcards, and more—all while leaving his victim to fate. Authorities believe Alexis was murdered late on June 24 or early the next day. Despite the attack, his injuries didn’t directly cause his death.
This heartbreaking case concluded with Rowson’s conviction of murder after a 12-day trial. He’ll serve a minimum of 16 years, but the pain for those left behind is lifelong. Alexis’ family wants the world to remember the caring, talented man who brought joy to many, hoping he’s now at peace.
