A retired GP from Monmouthshire has been exposed for possessing Category A child abuse images. Dr Mark Westbrook, 59, from Llantilio Pertholey, was handed a suspended eight-month prison sentence and now faces being barred from practising medicine. Last year, indecent images were discovered on his phone during a raid at his home, and he admitted to creating these disturbing images. Despite once having a clean record, Dr Westbrook is now under a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and must register as a sex offender for the same duration.
He is yet to attend his medical tribunal, where it’s being determined whether he should be blacklisted from the medical register. This shocking revelation has raised serious concerns about the systems in place to prevent such professionals from slipping through the cracks.
