If you’re using loperamide tablets to treat diarrhoea, here’s an essential update you need to know! The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has raised a flag about an incorrect instruction in the Patient Information Leaflet for Loperamide hydrochloride 2 mg Orodispersible Tablets.

🔍 What’s the issue?
The leaflet may incorrectly advise you to swallow the tablet whole with water. Instead, you should place it on your tongue and let it dissolve—no water needed!

🧐 Watch out for side effects!
There’s also a rare side effect (affecting up to 1 in 1,000 people) like a burning or prickling sensation on the tongue, which isn’t listed in the leaflet but is recognised for this medication type.

🆗 What should you do?
✔️ If you’ve got tablets from batch 25882X3 (pack of 12) or 25882X2 (pack of 6), follow the instructions on the carton instead of the leaflet.
✔️ Continue taking the medicine as prescribed but keep an eye out for any odd reactions and report them if necessary.

⚕️ Need assistance?
If you notice any adverse effects or have concerns, speak with your doctor or pharmacist right away. Remember, you’re still good to go, just make sure to follow the updated instructions!
