Tragic end for imprisoned killer, Emmett Morrison, whose life spiralled out of control behind bars. Serving life for the brutal murder of his neighbour, Morrison’s prison days were plagued by addiction and disturbing behaviour. Found dead in his cell at HMP Long Lartin, the 40-year-old’s final months were marked by illicit brew, drug debts, and grim “dirty protests.”

Convicted in 2022 for the murder of 66-year-old Timothy Dundon in Neath, Morrison’s once-shared bond of alcohol turned deadly post-shopping trip, with a violent attack leading to Dundon’s death. Later, Morrison attempted to pin his crime on unfounded claims of assault.

Inside prison, his life further derailed; caught under the influence and hoarding five litres of home-brewed “hooch,” Morrison’s struggle with addiction was evident. Often high on spice, a synthetic drug notorious for its alarming effects, his condition worsened.
A week before his tragic end, Morrison initiated a “dirty protest,” refusing to clean up as tensions escalated. Moving him to a lower cell after complaints of fluid-throwing, officers found Morrison hanged just minutes after relocating him. Despite immediate alerts, a delayed response from staff was criticised, prompting a call for improved emergency protocols.
