Swansea is mourning the loss of Robert Francis-Davies, a beloved councillor and former Lord Mayor, known for his dedication to the city. Tragically, his trip to Pembrokeshire took an unexpected turn when a fall from a mobility scooter contributed to his untimely death.

On a short getaway with his wife and friends in April, the 78-year-old faced an accident as his mobility scooter toppled over, resulting in a hip injury. Despite receiving treatment at Withybush Hospital, Robert’s health worsened, and he passed away on May 8th.
During his remarkable tenure since 1983, Robert was celebrated for significantly impacting the Morriston ward and beyond, contributing to the Swansea.com stadium and National Waterfront Museum projects. Swansea’s leader, Rob Stewart, hailed him as a “true Swansea legend” who brought positive change and championed the city’s development.

His passing leaves a void in the community and the hearts of those who knew him. Let’s remember and honour Robert Francis-Davies, a force of nature who truly made a difference in Swansea. Our thoughts are with his family and all who mourn this great loss. 🌹
