Nazir Ahmed, a long-standing Cardiff landlord, has landed in trouble yet again for failing to ensure tenant safety. Ahmed, with over 30 years in the property game, was hauled before Cardiff Magistrates’ Court, where he admitted to a whopping six offences related to one of his properties in Adamsdown. 🙈

Ahmed’s history isn’t squeaky clean; he’s been on the radar since 1996 and seems to have a knack for ignoring safety protocols. His property empire includes six buildings converted into 20 flats around Cardiff. But not all is well in his empire. Four flats on Broadway are currently empty, slapped with emergency orders due to serious hazards. 🚫

Traffic Updates
Fast forward to an inspection in April 2025, and Ahmed’s Bradley Street dwelling was a safety hazard nightmare! 🚨 No fire alarms, perilous roof garden, tiny bedrooms, and a shoddy electric setup—the list is endless. Council officers stepped in, prohibited the use for housing, and fired up a legal prosecution.

Council member Lynda Thorne weighed in: “Most landlords in Cardiff are top-notch, but a few bad apples care more about money than tenant safety.” She stressed that landlords have a legal duty to maintain safe living conditions.

Since his court date, Ahmed’s been busy fixing some issues—bye-bye dangerous roof garden! He’s been fined £1,080, charged a £432 victim surcharge, and asked to cover £3,000 in costs. That’s a hefty total of £4,512, with 90 days to pay up. ⏳💸

Looks like Cardiff won’t back down on ensuring tenant safety. Here’s hoping Mr. Ahmed finally gets the message! 🤞 #CardiffNews #LandlordTroubles #TenantSafety
