🚽 Let’s Talk About the Labour Poo! 🤰

Childbirth is a beautiful miracle, but for many women, the fear of the “labour poo” is all too real. According to new research from Andrex, a whopping 75% of women dread this very natural part of giving birth. Yet it’s often shrouded in silence, with just 8% of women regularly discussing it.

🎭 Comedian Katherine Ryan is here to change that! As part of Andrex’s #MyLabourPoo campaign, she’s on a mission to break the stigma surrounding this taboo topic. Katherine says, “As a mum of four, I can tell you it might happen – and that’s okay!”

The study revealed that many women feel more prepared to change nappies postpartum than to handle labour itself. Only 7% felt completely ready for all the physical realities, including the infamous labour poo. Despite midwives being well-versed in such things, a significant number of women feel awkward addressing it – even with healthcare professionals.
But here’s the kicker: almost a quarter didn’t anticipate the bowel changes post-birth, and it took an average of over four months for them to feel like themselves again. Many turn to Google and social media for advice when faced with these late-night worries.
Katherine’s advice? “You gotta go with the flow… even if that means you gotta ‘go’.” 🏃♀️ Andrex’s campaign aims to empower women to talk openly and shed any embarrassment they might feel.
So, let’s get the conversation rolling and support each other in being prepared, informed, and confident – because nobody should feel isolated during this natural experience. 🌸 Share your thoughts or stories with the hashtag #MyLabourPoo!
