Recently, Conwy County Council discussed some interesting solutions to this problem. Cllr Jo Nuttall, representing the Eryri National Park Authority, shared a vision for change. Inspired by successful strategies in the Alps and the Pyrenees, the plan includes offering free shuttle bus services to popular park areas alongside expanding car parks. 🚐🅿️

Eryri is a treasure trove of biodiversity and conservation efforts, but the influx of cars (98% of visitors use them!) is clogging roads and damaging flora and fauna. The existing Sherpa’r Wyddfa bus service is a great start, offering unlimited travel in North Wales for a minimal fee. Yet, there’s talk of making these services free, akin to the systems in European mountain regions.

Cllr Paul Luckock believes a free bus service could make life easier for visitors and locals. “Why not adopt the efficient bus systems seen in the Alps or Dolomites?” he suggests. It’s not just about convenience—improving transport could safeguard Eryri for generations to come. 🌲✨

Not to mention, smart parking tech, overnight restrictions, and more car parks on private lands could make a world of difference without spoiling the natural charm.

Imagine stress-free travel to your favourite spots in the park and contributing to a sustainable future at the same time. 🚌💚 What do you think about free buses in Eryri? Share your thoughts below! 👇
