Mum’s Temper Flare-Up Ends in Court Drama

An intense argument turned alarming when a mum, Irene Zoltokova, lost her temper and attacked her son’s grandmother. During a heated discussion over birthday bash plans, Irene allegedly pushed her ex’s mum, Rosina Jarkova, against a fridge before attempting to strangle her. All this unfolded while her four-year-old son was in the room.

The altercation didn’t stop there. After being pushed out of the house, Irene reportedly went on to shatter a car window. The damage was later assessed to cost around £95, and Rosina sought medical advice afterward.

At the Liverpool Crown Court, Irene, 22, defended herself, denying the strangulation claims and insisted she was merely defending herself. Nonetheless, after a jury’s decision, she was found guilty of assault but cleared of intentional strangulation. She did admit to the criminal damage charge.
Irene, who works as a self-employed cleaner and hotel supervisor, is keen on avoiding prison. She cited her responsibilities as a mother and her longing to reunite with her son. Instead of jail time, she’s open to therapy as a part of her sentence.
In the courtroom, it was revealed that while she has a previous youth conviction, this situation was deemed as modest mitigation due to her age and circumstances.
Ultimately, the judge sentenced Irene to 14 months imprisonment, suspended for 18 months, along with 25 rehabilitation days and ordered her to pay £200 in compensation to Rosina.
Here’s hoping that therapy helps, and no more “birthday party” arguments turn into courtroom dramas!
