Heartbreaking news has emerged from the world of football as the legendary Kevin Keegan has revealed he’s battling stage four cancer. In a moving appearance at Newcastle’s Tyne Theatre, the former Newcastle United and England manager shared his diagnosis during an emotional evening reflecting on his incredible career.

Keegan, beloved by fans of Newcastle and Liverpool alike, shared his resolve to fight the illness with the support of a top doctor who’s also a Liverpool supporter. He quipped about the doctor’s 33% success rate, keeping his trademark humour intact: “I thought he might say 80, maybe 90! Anyway, I am still here at the moment…”
Keegan, known for his illustrious playing days and two managerial spells at Newcastle, has expressed a desire to return to St James’ Park for a final goodbye. “I want to say goodbye. I didn’t get the chance when I left the club last time,” he said, hoping to greet supporters once more.

Despite his legendary status, the two-time Ballon d’Or winner remains humble, insisting he doesn’t want a statue at the club, famously saying: “My statue is the way people receive me.”
Sending strength and support to Kevin and his family during this challenging time. Your fighting spirit is inspiring, and your legacy in football remains unmatched. 🖤⚽💪
