🐶❤️ Important Alert for French Bulldog and Pug Owners! ☀️🔥

Hey pet lovers! Ben the Vet, our favourite animal welfare expert, has an urgent message for anyone with French bulldogs, pugs, or flat-faced pups. As the temperature rises, giving your beloved furry friends extra care is crucial. 🐾

Ben, who’s gained a loyal following on social media for his pet advice, is imploring dog owners to rethink their routine during a heatwave. His latest video titled “Stop exercising dogs in heatwave conditions” highlights how dangerous high temperatures can be for our pets, especially those with flatter faces.
🌡️ Why the concern? Flat-faced breeds like French bulldogs and pugs struggle more in the heat. Unlike humans, dogs don’t sweat to cool down. Instead, they pant. And our pug and Frenchie friends? They have a lot less room in their nose and throat for effective cooling. Imagine trying to beat the heat wearing a fur coat that never comes off!
Ben reminds us that no dog has ever suffered from skipping a walk. If the weather’s too warm, especially if your pup’s elderly, overweight, or has health issues, it’s better to stay in. Heat stroke is a real threat and can be fatal.
The RSPCA also chimes in, stressing that brachycephalic breeds—like pugs, French bulldogs, shih tzus, and boxers—face higher risks in hot weather.
So be cautious! Your dog might not handle the heat as you do. Let’s keep our furry pals safe and cool. 💧❄️
If in doubt, stay indoors, and remember: your pup’s health is more important than a sunny day out. Spread the word and keep those adorable flat-faced friends comfy!
