🚴♂️🌿 Have Your Say on Swansea’s Future Paths! 🌿🚶♀️

Exciting news, Swansea! There’s a new draft map outlining potential cycling and walking routes across our beautiful county, and your opinion matters! 🚴♀️🚶

Here’s the scoop: The council’s planning a 12-week chat, erm, consultation, on these potential paths before sending the final map off for Welsh Government approval. It’s all about keeping our city connected and pedestrian-friendly. 🗺️

What’s on the map? Alongside existing routes, you’ll spot possible new links like a scenic path along an old railway from Glais to Birchgrove, and routes connecting High Street to Parc Melin Mynach. Plus, a new path from Beechwood Road to Uplands. However, some plans didn’t make the cut, like the Old Carriage Drive route in Clyne Valley, due to local feedback.
Cllr Andrew Stevens reminds us this map is a planning tool. Including a route doesn’t mean it’s happening just yet, but it keeps us in the running for Welsh Government funding. 💷
With around 80 miles of pathways already in Swansea, there’s more on the horizon, like upgrading the national cycle network between Dunvant and Gowerton, costing £1.2m, and a stunning new riverside stroll along the Tawe’s west bank, expected to take three years and £8 million in the making.
Join the conversation and shape the future of transport in Swansea! Whether you’re a cyclist, a walker, or just love a stroll, this is your chance to influence Swansea’s path forward!
