🚨 Major Fire Alert in Abercynon! 🚨

A massive blaze broke out early Monday at Ty Menter, a key building in Navigation Park, Abercynon, and the aftermath is jaw-dropping. Firefighters tackled the flames throughout the day, with authorities urging nearby residents to keep windows shut due to the billowing smoke.

Around the site, thick clouds were visible for miles, even affecting the nearby A470. Commuters have been advised to tread carefully.
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service deployed multiple crews and specialist equipment, including aerial ladders and high-volume pumps, to combat the inferno. Local councillor Andrew Morgan flagged this as a “major fire,” stressing the importance of avoiding the area to allow emergency services to work unhindered.
While the flames have been subdued, lingering smoke continues to fill the air. The full scale of the destruction will take days to fully assess, but aerial photos already reveal significant damage.
Our thoughts are with the community and all those impacted. Stay safe and keep your distance. 🙏
