Toby Rogers, 34, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for rape and other violent offences in Barry. His victim, who bravely came forward, has shared how the horrific attack “affected every aspect” of her life, leaving her to grapple with anxiety and start the long journey to rebuilding herself.

Rogers, who pleaded guilty to rape, assault by penetration, assault by beating, and criminal damage, was handed his sentence at Cardiff Crown Court. A 20-year restraining order has been imposed on him, and he’ll be on the sex offenders’ register for life. This conviction was possible due to the compelling evidence gathered by South Wales Police, saving the victim from the ordeal of testifying in court.
In her own words, the victim expressed the ongoing struggle she faces, saying, “It has affected every aspect of my life.” She hopes Toby will realise the gravity of his actions and change for the better.

Detective Constable Jamie Dale praised the victim’s courage, emphasising the immense bravery required to report such crimes. He hopes the sentencing will aid her healing journey and bring some measure of closure.
This case underscores the importance of coming forward and standing firm against such heinous acts. We commend all survivors who find the strength to report and help bring offenders to justice.
