π₯βοΈ Attention all dog lovers! As the UK sizzles in temperatures up to 38Β°C, it’s time to put your pup’s safety first! The RSPCA is urging extra caution for flat-faced breeds like Pugs, French Bulldogs, Shih Tzus, and Boxers, who are especially prone to heatstroke.

Flat faces may be cute, but they make it much harder for these dogs to cool down in the heat. Watch out for signs of heatstroke like excessive panting, drooling, and difficulty breathing. Always remember: early action can save lives!

π Never leave your dog in a parked car, even for a minute. It can turn into a furnace quickly! Instead, walk your dogs during cooler parts of the day and ensure they have plenty of fresh water and shade at all times.
Knowing the danger signs and how to respond can make all the difference. If your pooch shows signs of overheating, move them to a shady spot instantly, offer cool water, and start cooling them with tepid water (no ice!) before calling the vet.
Dogs may not sweat like we do, but we can still keep them cool and safe. And remember, when in doubt, skip the walk altogether β they’ll thank you for it later! πΎπ¦
For all dog owners: if your fluffy friend means the world to you, avoid the heatwave triggers! Stay alert, keep cool, and share this essential info with fellow pet parents. Let’s keep our four-legged friends happy and healthy this summer! ππ
