🚨 Beware of Rogue Builders! 🚨
Imagine hiring someone to clean your guttering and ending up with shattered dreams and a wrecked roof. That’s the nightmare many elderly residents faced when they crossed paths with Richard Murnane, the so-called ‘charmer’ whose promises were as hollow as an empty gutter. 💔🏠
Murnane, a self-described roofer, left a trail of devastation across the community, conning vulnerable homeowners out of almost £40,000! 😱 He’d start with a small job, then suddenly “discover” massive issues that supposedly needed urgent—and expensive—repairs. Scarily, the work was often not needed and of shockingly poor quality. Can you imagine the heartbreak of paying huge sums only to face further damage and sky-high repair costs?
His victims, many of whom were elderly or vulnerable, described feeling pressured and cornered into handing over money. The work, when completed, was so shocking that experts found it to be lacking even the most basic craftsmanship. In some cases, it had to be redone completely.
Richard Murnane, from Neath, has since been sentenced to two years and eight months in prison. His antics have not only cost people financially but also emotionally. 😔💔
The judge rightly called him a “rogue builder,” and we’re hoping his sentence offers some justice to those affected.
Stay sharp, folks! If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Always check credentials and get a second opinion if you’re unsure about work needed on your home.
