Renowned journalist Trevor Fishlock, who made Wales his adopted home, has sadly passed away in Penarth at the age of 85. Known for his adventurous spirit and insightful storytelling, Fishlock’s career spanned three decades, reporting from over 70 countries for The Times and The Daily Telegraph. His vivid writing not only captured news from the world’s largest stages but also painted the unique local colours of Wales, a place he grew to love deeply.

Fishlock wasn’t just a journalist; he was an adventurer and author, crossing the Atlantic and Pacific with yachtsman John Ridgway and penning books on topics close to his heart, from naval history to the landscapes of Russia and Wales. His book “Gift of Sunlight,” shares the fascinating story of the Davies sisters’ art collection.

Trevor first arrived in Wales in the 1970s and experienced the vibrant changes of the era, immersing himself in the political and cultural shifts that made headlines. This love for Wales remained strong even after he moved to the US in 1977, with Wales drawing him back to settle in Cardiff in 2000.

Trevor leaves behind a rich legacy in journalism and literature, survived by his loving family, including his wife Penny and three children. His family has announced that his funeral will be private.
A man of many talents and immense curiosity, Fishlock’s contributions to journalism and his love for exploration will be fondly remembered. Safe harbours, Trevor.
