Prince William couldn’t help but chuckle during his recent surprise visit to a Welsh school in London! 🎉 He stopped by Ysgol Gymraeg Llundain, the only Welsh-medium primary school outside of Wales and Patagonia, which was established back in 1958. The school does an amazing job promoting Welsh language and culture right in the heart of London.
While chatting with the pupils, the conversation turned to the World Cup, currently being held across the USA, Mexico, and Canada. In a candid moment caught on camera, Prince William asked one spirited student whether she thought England would do well. Her cheeky answer? “Hopefully not!” 😂 The Prince took it in stride, laughing heartily at her honesty.
This visit wasn’t just about football, though. Prince William was there to cheer on Team Wales ahead of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, set to happen from July 23 to August 2. He joined students in sending their best wishes to the Welsh athletes who’ll compete in 10 sports and six para-sports across Glasgow.
The Commonwealth Games team, set to feature 114 athletes aged 16 to 73, including 67 women and 47 men, was very much in the spotlight as the Prince played a game of bowls with the children. It’s clear the royals are well and truly on board with supporting both England and Wales during key sporting events, with Prince William often spotted at both Principality Stadium and Twickenham for rugby matches.
It was a day full of fun and well wishes, all in good spirit for the upcoming games in Glasgow! 🏆🏴
