Heartbreaking news from South Wales: Two takeaway workers have been convicted after preying on vulnerable teens by plying them with alcohol and drugs. Waseel Shikel and Azad Ahmed, both working in an Indian takeaway, were found guilty of targeting two teenage girls in care. They drove the teens to isolated places, where one of the girls was tragically raped by Ahmed.
The court revealed that the duo gave the girls cash, cannabis, and alcohol to silence them after the assault. Despite the men denying the charges, they were each handed 16-year extended sentences, recognised as dangerous offenders. The courageous victim shared the devastating impact on her life, describing her experience as a “living hell.”
Justice Lucy Crowther highlighted the bravado of the victim, saying it was her bravery that brought these offenders to justice. The victim was lauded for her resilience in speaking up, which led to the successful prosecution of these predators.
